After my MSc in Medical Physiology, I became actively involved in developing strategies to improve healthy lifestyle in my local community. Driven by the increasing amount of cardiovascular disease cases I saw, and the positive impact physical activity had on health outcomes, I decided to research further on the mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of CVD and metabolic disease, and how lifestyle modification could improve health.
My PhD looks at how behaviour change in the form of physical activity and diet can affect diabetic patients. Specifically, I am studying the mechanisms involved in improvements in cardiac and metabolic function resulting from this intervention and how subsequent relapse can become deleterious to health.
