Senior Research Physiotherapist, Metabolism
I joined Newcastle University in 2009 after working for 10 years as a physiotherapist in the NHS specialising in musculoskeletal out-patients, cardiac rehabilitation and weight management.
I have now been working as a senior research physiotherapist/clinical academic for 5 years and during this time have successfully completed a PhD in physical activity, exercise, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This work has led to the development of a clinical role in the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals’ NAFLD clinics focussing on incorporating lifestyle interventions into patient care.
I have recently been awarded a 5 year NIHR/HEE Clinical Lectureship to continue my work on how best to translate the evidence for physical activity/exercise into clinical care in NAFLD.
