Evaluation of everyday metabolism and energy expenditure in people with stroke

  • Gary A Ford

  • Lynn Rochester

Observe everyday energy expenditure levels and metabolism in older adults following stroke.

Research Overview:

Metabolic problems and low energy expenditure have been linked with increasing the risk of stroke. This study will observe day to day variations in energy expenditure levels and metabolism following stroke in the acute stage, at three months and at six months. This information will be compared with similar information from healthy individuals.

Research Importance:

This observation of energy expenditure and metabolism following stroke will enable the development of interventions to aid recovery and rehabilitation following stroke.
