Cardiac function, exercise and Type 2 diabetes.
To understand the effect of high intensity intermittent exercise on cardiac function in people with Type 2 diabetes.
People with Type 2 diabetes could have changes in the structure of their heart and the way their heart works. Exercise has the potential to reverse these changes. We do not know how different types of exercise influence cardiac function in people with Type 2 diabetes. This study will use cutting edge magnetic resonance techniques to understand whether intermittent cycling (2mins cycle and 2mins rest, directed through an iPod) changes cardiac function.
This study evaluates an easily translatable therapy for improving cardiac function in people with Type 2 diabetes.
