Understand the effects of physical activity on the muscle ageing phenotype.
Maintaining muscle mass and function through life is important in achieve adequate metabolic control and the ability to undertake tasks of our everyday lives. This study will look at how physical activity influences muscle function across our lives. This study will use magnetic resonance techniques, exercise testing and metabolic studies to understand if a sedentary lifestyle accelerates the muscle ageing phenotype.
This study will look at the effects of low levels of physical activity upon muscle function, a key determinant of lifelong health and wellbeing.
