Understand whether cardiorespiratory fitness is related to surgical outcomes in older people.
Ageing is associated with an increase risk of complications and death following elective surgery. However, the reasons why people are at an increased risk of complications with increasing age remains unknown. This study evaluates the relationship between cardiorespiratory reserve and surgical outcomes in older people.
This study will provide important information about whether a potentially modifiable risk factor such as cardiorespiratory fitness is associated with surgical risk.
